Wookey Hole Caves

Wookey Hole Caves are famous for their history and grandeur. Over many thousands of years the action of the river water flowing through the rocks below Ebbor Gorge has dissolved the limestone to form enormous chambers through which visitors may walk today. The complex has much to offer. There are play areas, a restaurant, shopping, a pirate Zap Zone and the Valley of the Dinosaurs. Wookey Hole caves may be found in the village of Wookey Hole near to the City of Wells. Revamped, restored and totally remarkable, the new Wookey Hole, Britain's oldest tourist attraction, is bursting onto the 2007 holiday scene in an explosive mix of history, mystery and fun.

With new attractions, great new facilities and the classic glory of Britain's most spectacular underground caverns, the centuries-old site near Wells has been given a brand new lease of life. In 2006 we opened a 'Valley of the Dinosaurs'. A full-size King Kong now sits at the entrance. Come and stroll amongst our full-sized dinosaurs, or relax in our 'Enchanted Fairy Garden' with fairies, dragons and elves. Indoors we've added a revolutionary pirate ship 'ZAP ZONE' adventure which we've named 'Pirates of the River Axe'.

Come and watch our Pirates Show in our new theatre, or be totally amazed at our new exciting museum. The Wookey Bears, which is officially 'the world's most famous bear collection in the world' is our latest addition to the attraction. We've transformed the place. Of course we've kept the best - the caves themselves, the wonderful old paper mill, the Kidz Play Areas, Magical Mirror Maze, and the Victorian Penny Arcade, but there's so much more we've done to make Wookey Hole a great family destination for a wonderful day out whatever the weather.
