Treborough Hill Cross Country Course
Treborough Hill Cross Country Course
Treborough Hill Cross Country Course is set on the high land of Treborough Common. It is set in 500 acres and developed as part of the farm diversification scheme with financial support from the Exmoor National Park Sustainable Development Fund, provided by the South West Rural Development Agency. The course has been designed and built by Richard Ayre who has competed in eventing up to international level and is now a Registered Course Builder with British Eventing.
Richard has used the natural contours of Treborough Common to provide a range of jumps from very small fences for young horses and riders, through to a quarry, ski jump and steps complex. A stunning water jump features a retaining dry stone wall built by local expert Steve Hales. Several jumps will reflect themes and places on Exmoor -the quarry, named 'Stags Leap', can be approached from different directions and there is a train with carriages which can be jumped at different heights. Wherever possible, local products and services have been used, particularly Exmoor Woodcert timber for the jumps and fencing. Local riding and pony clubs will be able to hold competitions there, as well as fun rides and, with the new Coleridge Bridle Way linking directly onto the cross country course, facilities for local horse riders and equine tourism continue to improve on Exmoor. The first major event at Treborough Cross Country took place on 30th Sept 2007. It was a Hunter Trial in aid of Brooke Hospital.

Treborough Hill Cross Country Course is now fully open and available for schooling and hire for events.
The course has already proved itself to be an enormous success with both novice and advanced horses and riders; concessions for private schooling are available to riding club and pony club members. Their season ticket facility offers great value for those wishing to develop the potential of a horse, rider or for those just simply wanting lots of great days out!
Easy access off the B3224 and ample parking makes their safe, but exciting course an ideal venue to host your hunter trial or one day event. They have a large flat area suitable for dressage arenas and showjumping and they now have a wash down area for horses.
