There are various publications available which provide valuable information on getting about Exmoor. Walk leaflets, Cycle leaflets and Guides for disabled people visiting Exmoor are available from visitor centres.
Roads
Tourists have been coming to Exmoor for at least two hundred years. They have come to admire the scenery and enjoy the atmosphere of being 'away from it all'. Most places are now well served with roads so visitors from any part of the country can easily visit Exmoor. Many of Exmoor's roads are narrow, winding and in places steep.
Buses
The NPA are keen to encourage the use of public transport so as to reduce the number of cars coming onto Exmoor and to that end they have worked with Somerset and Devon County Councils to develop local bus services.
These now travel on to Exmoor during the summer months from Barnstaple, Bridgwater, Exeter, Taunton and Tiverton. The popular coast service 300 links llfracombe, Lynmouth and Porlock with Minehead, Dunster and Dulverton. From Minehhead visitors can take a 'Visitor' bus into the heart of the moor, to Exford where there are superb walks. A bus timetable is available from ATMOS (Bus contact number on 01823 358232) or Dulverton NPVC on 01398 Exmoor National Park Authority841.
