Buzzards
Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) The commonest UK bird of prey, this is a quite large bird which feeds mainly on rabbits and small mammals but will also feed on carrion and beetles and worms. The wings are broad and rounded and it has a short neck and tail. It is often seen gliding and soaring, with its wings held in a shallow 'V. Buzzards vary in colour and markings from dark brown to light brown plumage with pale heads and breasts. All have dark wingtips and a banded tail.
