Alswear is situated on the B3137 just south of South Molton at the point where the River Mole is bridged. On the afternoon of Saturday 31st October the persistent heavy rain of that day and the proceeding week culminated with the river bursting its banks and flooding the lower parts of the village with some homes being inundated.
